the art of doing more with less.

For the first time in what seems like years cautious optimism is seeping back into our industry. Every day we receive reports about the slow resuscitation of the economy and the gradual growth of the market.
It certainly doesn’t feel like those heady pre-2008 years and it shouldn’t. The hard-earned knowledge of the past few years is still fresh in our minds and it’s important that we apply it to our efforts to recover and re-grow.

If there is one thing we’ve learned, it’s the importance of being able to do more with less. Chatterson Drive’s newest team member, Stephanie Weidmann has spent most of her career in the non-profit sector mastering that skill.

Stephanie (you can call her Steph) is a recent grad of Mount Royal University where she studied communications with a major in Journalism.

In spite of her disdain for freelancing, her  writing has appeared both in local newspapers and national and international magazines.

She spent a summer wrangling journalists (and the occasional horse) at the Spruce Meadows International Media Centre where she also wrote press releases, television scripts and learned to make a decent cup of coffee. Later she was elected Web Editor of the Reflector - MRU’s community newspaper. While there she learned the ins and outs of applying new-media technology to a traditional print newspaper.

“ A lot of what I’ve been doing in the past really centered around how to be innovative and creative with limited resources,” says Stephanie. “What I love is being able to find new ways to surprise people, whether it’s clients or my listening audience or the people I work with.”
In spite of her interest in technology and new forms of communications, Steph’s first true love is one of the oldest forms of mass media, radio. What began as an internship at U of C’s CJSW 90.9FM has turned into a regular weekly gig as the co-host of the station’s Literary show, Writers Block.

“It’s like a form of therapy. Every tuesday night I get to sit in the studio with some of the smartest people I know and talk about literature, language and the ways it influences everything around us.” she says. “Words -especially printed words - really do have power but we don’t often get the chance to slow down and really think about how they effect us.”

As a communications strategist, Steph will be collaborating with our clients to find ways of reaching out to their audiences through traditional streams, the fledging field of social media or something completely new and unexpected.

Our Kensington Collaboration Centre is buzzing right now. We have some exciting projects on the go for a healthy stable of what we consider to be, dream clients. At Chatterson we believe that your challenges are our playground. If you’d like to learn more about what we do and how we do it, drop us a line at info@chattersondrive.com
